State Bank of India invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens for appointment as Probationary Officers. Selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India. Candidates are requested to apply online through the official website.

Eligibility Criteria (as on 01.04.2025)

  • Age Limit: Not below 21 years and not above 30 years (i.e., candidates must have been born not later than 01.04.2004 and not earlier than 02.04.1995).
    • Age Relaxation:
      • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
      • SC/ST: 5 years
      • PwBD (UR/EWS): 10 years
      • PwBD (OBC): 13 years
      • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years
      • Ex Servicemen: 5 years
    • Note: No cumulative age relaxation. No change in category after online application.
  • Essential Academic Qualifications (as on 30.09.2025): Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent. Final Year/Semester students can apply provisionally but must produce proof of passing by 30.09.2025.
  • Reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): 4% horizontal reservation. Detailed suitable categories (Blind, Low Vision, Hard of Hearing, Locomotor Disability, Mental Illness, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Multiple Disabilities) and functional requirements are provided.

Application Fee (Non-Refundable)

  • Unreserved / EWS/ OBC candidates: ₹750/-
  • SC/ST/PwBD candidates: Nil

Selection Procedure (Three Phases)

  1. Phase-I: Preliminary Examination (Online Objective Test)
    • 100 marks, 1 hour duration.
    • Sections: English Language (40Q, 20 min), Quantitative Aptitude (30Q, 20 min), Reasoning Ability (30Q, 20 min).
    • No sectional cut-off. Candidates numbering 10 times the vacancies will be shortlisted for Main Examination.
  2. Phase-II: Main Examination (Online Objective Test + Descriptive Test)
    • Objective Test: 200 marks, 3 hours duration.
      • Sections: Reasoning & Computer Aptitude (40Q, 60M, 50 min), Data Analysis & Interpretation (30Q, 60M, 45 min), General Awareness / Economy/ Banking Knowledge (60Q, 60M, 45 min), English Language (40Q, 20M, 40 min).
    • Descriptive Test: 50 marks, 30 min duration. Communication Skills (Emails, Reports, Situation Analysis & Precis Writing).
    • Sectional cut-offs in Main Examination. Candidates numbering up to 3 times the vacancies will be shortlisted for Phase-III.
    • Penalty for Wrong Answers: 1/4th mark deduction in both Preliminary & Main Exams.
  3. Phase-III: Psychometric Test, Group Exercise & Personal Interview
    • Psychometric Test (for personality profiling).
    • Group Exercise: 20 marks.
    • Interview: 30 marks.
    • Total Phase-III: 50 marks.
    • Minimum qualifying marks will be decided by the Bank.

Final Selection: Based on marks obtained in Phase-II (Objective + Descriptive) and Phase-III, normalized to 100 marks. Preliminary Exam marks are not added to the final merit list.

Emoluments

  • Starting basic pay: ₹48,480/- (Plus 4 advance increments) in the scale of ₹48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920.
  • Eligible for DA, HRA, CCA, PF, NPS, LFC, Medical Facility, Lease rental, and other allowances.
  • Approximate CTC at Mumbai Centre: ₹20.43 Lacs.

Joining, Training & Career Path

  • Selected candidates must complete an online basic banking course before joining.
  • A bond of ₹2.00 Lacs (Two Lacs only) must be executed to serve the Bank for a minimum period of three years. The bond will be invoked if the candidate resigns before the 3-year period.
  • Probationary Officers will be on probation for two years, subject to continuous assessment.

Pre-Examination Training (PET)

  • Online PET will be arranged for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates as per Government of India guidelines.
  • Candidates opting for PET must indicate so in the online application. Intimation for training schedule will be sent via email and SMS; no hard copies.

Number of Chances

  • UR/EWS: 4 chances
  • UR (PwBD) / EWS (PwBD) / OBC / OBC (PwBD): 7 chances
  • SC / SC (PwBD)/ ST / ST (PwBD): No Restriction
  • Appearing in Preliminary Examination will not be counted as a chance. Appearing in Main Examination will be counted as a chance.

How to Apply

  • Candidates can apply online only from 24.06.2025 to 14.07.2025 via the Bank's career website: https://bank.sbi/web/careers/current-openings.
  • Applicants must have a valid email ID and mobile number, active until results declaration.
  • Registration Steps:
    • Scan and upload photograph, signature, left-hand thumb impression, and a hand-written declaration (as per Annexure-II guidelines). Live photograph capture via webcam/mobile is also required.
    • The text for the hand-written declaration is: "(Name of the candidate), (Date of Birth) hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required. The signature, photograph and left-hand thumb impression is of mine".
    • Fill the online application carefully, save (to get provisional registration number and password), and pay the application fee online.
    • After successful payment, e-receipt and application form will be generated. Print for record.
  • No changes/corrections will be allowed after final submission.

General Instructions

  • Apply well before the last date to avoid technical issues.
  • Ensure fulfillment of all eligibility criteria as on the date of eligibility. Admission is purely provisional.
  • Take a printout of the system-generated online application form.
  • Call Letters: All call letters (Preliminary, Main, Phase-III) and 'acquaint yourself booklet' must be downloaded from the Bank's website. No hard copy will be sent.
  • Documents for Examination/Interview: Candidates appearing for Main Exam must bring the duly authenticated "Original Preliminary Exam Call Letter (with Authenticated Copy of ID Proof)" along with the "Main Exam Call Letter" and "Other Requisite Documents". Bring two additional photographs (same as on call letter).
  • Proof of Identity: Must bring one photo identity proof (Passport/Aadhar/PAN Card/Driving License/Voter's ID/Bank Passbook with attested photograph/ID Card issued by School or College/Gazetted Officer) in original and a self-attested photocopy for examination.
  • Biometric Verification: Photo and thumb impression/IRIS Scan will be captured at various stages.
  • Misconduct: Furnishing false information, suppressing facts, attempting fraud/impersonation, using unfair means, or misbehavior will lead to disqualification, debarment, criminal prosecution, and cancellation of candidature/services.
  • Banned Items: Mobile phones, calculators, pagers, electronic devices, storage media (pen drive, smart watches, camera, Bluetooth) are strictly prohibited inside examination/interview premises.
  • CIBIL Score: Candidates with repayment defaults (including credit card dues) are not eligible unless regularized/repaid by the offer date, or CIBIL status updated/NOCs produced by the joining date. Candidates are advised to check/confirm their CIBIL score.
  • Certificates: OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), EWS (Income & Asset Certificate), SC/ST (Caste Certificate), and PwBD (Disability Certificate) must be produced in the prescribed format by the date of document verification at the interview. Failure to do so will result in non-consideration for the post.
  • NOC for Govt./PSU Employees: Candidates serving in Government/Quasi Government Offices, Public Sector Undertakings (including Nationalized Banks and Financial Institutions) must submit a 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) at the time of interview and a proper discharge certificate at the time of taking up the appointment.
